Sodium dichloroisocyanurate (INN: sodium troclosene, troclosenum natricum or NaDCC or SDIC) is a chemical compound widely used as a cleansing agent and disinfectant.[1] It is a colorless, water-soluble solid. The dihydrate is also known (51580-86-0 ) as is the potassium salt (2244-21-5 ).
Pools with salt water chlorinators
Dichlor has a high level of cyanuric acid, commonly known as a stabiliser . If your pool tends to have lower cyanuric acid levels, or none at all as in the case where salt water chlorinators are used, dichlor could be a way to fix that while also shocking the water.
Dichlor does not significantly impact the pH of your pool water since it is nearly neutral. It will still give you a slight drop in pH since chlorine changes into acid when it reacts to water.
It is mainly used as a disinfectant, biocide and industrial deodorant. As a disinfectant, it is used to sterilize drinking water, swimming pools, tableware and air, and to fight against infectious diseases as a routine disinfection agent.
