ClearBlue  is the gold standard in mineral systems for pools. It is one of the most cost effective ways to maintain a pool. This system uses the purest silver, copper and zinc for premium water quality in all conditions.

The only ionizer on the market that is registered with the EPA as a sanitizer for pools and hot tubs mineral ionizer, it has been thoroughly tested for 15 months by SwimmingPoolsThailand for quality-service and value for money and is arguably the best and most economical pool ionizer on the market. A bestseller in the US and Canada.

Very easy DIY installation (30 minutes. HD glue required). Scroll down for installation instructions.

ClearBlue ionizer is installed in minutes (needs no bypass) in the pool filtration system and releases microscopic copper, silver, and zinc mineral ions which control bacteria and algae. This permits a reduction of up to 90% or more of chlorine, algaecide, and other disinfectants and stabilisers.

ClearBlue ionizer do not inject any chemicals into the pool water or require the addition of algicides. ClearBlue is 100% safe for bathers and is environmentally friendly.

ClearBlue ionizers can be used as a main disinfection system or in parallel with any other system such as ozone, UV, chemical drip feeds, and will also allow existing salt chlorinators systems or tablet feeds to simply 'tick-over' on their lowest settings.

ClearBlue Ionizers costs less than a salt chlorinator, there is no salt to purchase, and ClearBlue mineral pools are less effort to maintain than traditional chlorine or salt water pools.

ClearBlue Ionizers do not affect the pH balance of the water. Chlorine and salt chlorinators affect pH which requires constant adjustment to the pH with pH Minus or pH Plus.

ClearBlue mineral ions are completely neutral so pH stays in range longer.

ClearBlue  replacement electrodes, (3 minutes to exchange) cost much, much less than salt cells and less than a year's supply of salt. Life expectancy of the electrode can be up to 12 - 15 months under normal use.

ClearBlue systems have been extensively tested in our demo pool and have our seal of approval. Water tests carried out by the pathology department of Khon Kaen University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Filtration

For best results when using a saltwater chlorinator, you may wish to change the sand in your filter for glass filter media. ClearBlue is also ideal for use with cartridge filters.

Installation

Normally your house consumer unit or pool control box will be equipped with a RCCB / GFCI, if not, you must fit one. The ClearBlue controller should have power all the time and should not be on a timer.

electrode installation

Ensure that the electrode rods are always covered with water, even when the pump is not running.

FAQ

Do I still need chlorine with the ClearBlue system?

Yes, but only a tiny amount. Every swimming pool needs chlorine or bromine to help sanitize the water – even saltwater pools. ClearBlue allows you to reduce the chlorine to drinking water levels. This gives you the protection of a proven sanitizer without the downsides like smelly water, itchy skin, burning eyes, and fading swimsuits.

Can I use ClearBlue with my saltwater pool?

Yes. You can upgrade your saltwater pool to a mineral pool by adding a ClearBlue system. You can turn down the salt chlorinator to minimum setting to reduce chlorine output. This helps keep the pH in range and gives you more life from the salt cell.

How does ClearBlue compare with Ozone/AOP systems?

ClearBlue builds up a residual of mineral ions in the water which prevent algae and bacteria growth whereas ozone uses a gas to destroy microorganisms as the water passes through a chamber. Since the biggest battle in your backyard swimming pool is against algae and since there is nothing more effective at controlling algae than a mineral residual, ClearBlue is more efficient for most pool applications.

How does ClearBlue compare with UV systems?

UV systems use UV light to slow the growth of microorganisms in the water. Water is treated as it passes through the UV chamber, so it takes a long time for the entire pool to be treated. Since there is no residual like the ClearBlue minerals, it is not very effective at controlling algae.

Why is ClearBlue more expensive than other ionizers?

The only ionizer on the market that is registered with the EPA as a sanitizer for pools and hot tubs, the ClearBlue controller uses proprietary technology to guarantee a constant output to the cell, regardless of cell life or water chemistry. Cheaper ionizers do not have this feature so you have to constantly adjust the water chemistry and turn the levels up or down as the cell wears down to keep the levels consistent. We also use the purest silver, copper and zinc in a proprietary blend designed to maximize results whereas cheaper systems use copper only with varying purity.

Will ClearBlue cause staining?

No. Some ionizers are not regulated well so mineral levels go way higher than necessary. Combine this with poor water chemistry and you can get colorations in the water that lead to stains. With the precision of the ClearBlue controller and our proprietary mineral blend, staining has never been a problem in over 20 years of business.

How long does the mineral cell last?

Depending on settings and correct use, the cell that comes with the system lasts at lest 6 months but based on our tests and customer feedback, up to 15 months or more can be expected if used correctly.

NOTE: In new or refilled pools, the first cell wears out  quickest because it needs to ramp up the minerals.
