Note: D.E. filters are very maintenance intensive. and require a permanent stock of powder. Modern sand filters filled with Zelbrite far exceed the performance of D.E. (Diatomaceous earth) filter. They are also much far more economical and require little maintenance (no addition of powder, or replacement of  grids, etc.)
